In "Centro Geoturistico of Rodalquilar" in a converted house of the former house of the mines you find information about the geological heritage of the natural park and Andalusia in general as well as a short tour through the history of the mines and habitats of Rodalquilar.
Cortijo de los Frailes is known as the place where the blood wedding took place, is a tragedy from 1928. The dramatist Frederico García Lorca staged the Blood Wedding as a play in 1933. The ruins are still in good condition.

Desert areas with barren landscape like in Tabernas, huge deserts with lush vegetation, cliffs and the untouched beaches of Cabo de Gata made Almería to a important center of cinema productions worldwide. The biggest international movie stars were appearing for North American and European movies.
Numerous famous movies were made here. Lawrence of Arabia, Indiana Jones and many Italo spaghetti-westerns.
Actors like Harrison Ford, Clint Eastwood, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Omar Sharif, Michal „Bully“ Herbig, Henry Fonda, Charles Bronson, Claudia Cardinale gave themselfes the honour.
